International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS)
The International Institute of Marine Surveying is an independent, non-political organisation. Membership is open to Qualified Mariners, Cargo Surveyors, Yacht and Small Craft Surveyors, and Marine Consultants from around the world. Individuals, with specialised knowledge, experience or skills able to contribute and enhance the aims and objectives of the Institute are also invited to join.

Important Examination Notice
All Students studying on the pre 2012 IIMS Diploma Courses should be aware that the last opportunity to sit your examination will be: Friday, 15th Monday, 18th of June 2012 (UK date: Sunday, 17th June 2012) OR Friday, 30th November 3rd December 2012 (UK date: Sunday, 2nd December 2012) No further Examinations will be run after these dates. Students that do not pass these Examinations will only be able to qualify for a certificate of completion covering those areas that they have gained a pass mark on.

UK SCWG Meeting

Description:
A meeting of the UK SCWG will take place on the 16th March 2012 at the IIMS head office at Portchester. The meeting to commence at 10:30am will be followed by lunch and then an afternoon session on surveying engines and mechanical equipment on small craft with Geoff Waddington.
Members are advised to register as soon as possible as places are restricted. Cost per person £25.00 (This meeting brings 3 CPD points for 2012)

IIMS Get Your Hands Dirty Training Day

The next Get Your Hands Dirty Day will be held on the 25th May 2012 the day following the SeaWork Exhibition. The programme for the day will be as follows;

10:30 Tea/coffee
11:00 Using Cameras on Boats a practical session
12:30 Lunch
13:15 Rigging know your lines, wires, or rods from your shrouds what to look for how
To report on what you find hear the views of Kim Skov-Nielsen learn the tricks that he uses.
14:00 Working in small groups survey two vessels under supervision
(refreshments available during the session)
16:30 Back to the classroom to report
17:00 Coffee to finish
