In doing so\, the regulations created a significant step change and impose d fundamental new rules to what had gone before\, requiring code examiners and surveyors to learn.\n\nOver the past three years\, the code and parti cularly the much longer form that code examiners are required to complete\ , has posed many challenges\, not only for code examiners\, but also for s crutineers\, and continues to do so. The learning curve has been steep for all involved.\nWho should attend?\n\n Current code examiners from any Ce rtifying Authority\n Those who are interested in developing a career in w orkboat code surveying\n Other general surveyors who are keen to know mor e about the code and its impact on workboat safety\n\nCompleting SWB 2 For ms for Speed of Processing and Certificate Issue (Part I)\nPart I of this two part online only seminar will be presented by Fraser Noble\, Chairman of the IIMS Certifying Authority\, on Wednesday 2nd December from 1500 to 1900 via Zoom with contributions from others. In Part I he will review the Statutory Instrument that underpins the code\, before introducing the uni versal SWB2 form which all Certifying Authorities are required by the MCA to use.\n\nThere will be ample time for delegates to ask questions\, espec ially important given the various interpretations of the code that exist! As we go through the form in detail\, inevitably we will need to look at m any of the referred code paragraphs.\nCompleting SWB 2 Forms for Speed of Processing and Certificate Issue (Part II)\nPart II will be presented one week later on Wednesday 9th December between 15:00 and 19:00.\n\nThis pres entation will continue the process of working through the SWB2 form in det ail. But additionally\, Fraser will discuss the role of the code examiner with regards to the Safety Management System (SMS) requirements - in parti cular\, to brief code examiners on what we need them to look at onboard an d what they need to submit to their Certifying Authority to comply with th e regulations.\n\nYour fee of £120 covers attendance at both seminars.
