SUMMARY:How to conduct a complete mast and rigging survey one day course
DESCRIPTION:Join tutor\, Kim Skov-Nielsen for a comprehensive classroom and
  practical based training day taking place in Southampton\, UK on Monday 2
 6 March 2018 that will explain how to carry out a complete mast and riggin
 g survey.\n\nThe venue for the morning classroom session is:\nSouthampton 
 Football Club\, St Mary’s Stadium\, Britannia Rd\, Southampton SO14 5FP\
 n\nThe venue for the afternoon practical session is:\nThe Rig Shop\, Unit 
 7\, Saxon Wharf\, Lower York St\, Southampton SO14 5QF\n\nThe morning sess
 ion\nKim will give a 3 hour classroom presentation and will provide a chec
 klist for delegates.\nIn this session\, Kim will talk about:\n- how to ins
 pect the mast and rigging\n- when to inspect the mast and rigging\n- what 
 to expect\n- what to look for\n\nIn his presentation\, Kim will cover all 
 types of rigging from rope to galvanised steel wire to carbon\, as well as
  looking at different types of masts too.\n\nThe morning session only is a
 lso open to online delegates.\n\nThe afternoon session\nDelegates will hea
 d over to The Rig Shop. IIMS is grateful to Harry James of The Rig Shop fo
 r allowing us access to his yard and facility.\n\nHow many and what type o
 f rigs are available will be determined on the day. Working in small group
 s\, those present will look at and survey the laid out rigs\, noting their
  comments and coming up with a list of faults and issues for later group d
 iscussion before close.\n\nWeather at the end of March can be unpredictabl
 e and often wet. So please ensure you bring appropriate clothing and footw
 ear to keep yourself dry and warm too in the event it is a bad afternoon.\

 urse leader\nTo those who know him\, Kim Skov-Nielsen MIIMS\, or KSN to hi
 s friends\, is a larger than life individual. He is a well-known and exper
 ienced marine surveyor who knows his subject.\n\nKSN has worked full-time 
 in the marine industry since 1979\, initially as a yacht skipper and ocean
  racer and then as a marine surveyor. KSN has sailed almost 150\,000 blue 
 water miles worldwide\, amassing a wide range of valuable experience - fro
 m building boats to sailing them around the world. KSN established a surv
 eying business in Estepona\, Spain delivering a range of survey and consul
 tancy work to clients worldwide.\n\nKSN is well placed to deliver this pro
 gramme having authored ‘Rig Basics - How to Look After Your Mast\, Riggi
