IIMS is the leading worldwide professional body for the marine surveying profession. Our membership is increasing steadily in Türkiye, in keeping with the country’s growing marine industry, and we have seen an uplift in the number of students studying for a Professional Qualification in marine surveying with IIMS.
IIMS training seminar for marine surveyors and other interested parties – 5 November 2026.
Venue: La Quinta by Wyndham, Bodrum.
IIMS Chief Executive Officer, Mike Schwarz, will host the event in person and looks forward to welcoming members, as well as non-members and other interested maritime professionals. The event is open to all and is a great opportunity to network with other surveyors and marine industry personnel.
We are still finalising the speaker programme and the schedule will change, but here is what we have for you so far:
09:00 – Mike Schwarz: An introduction to IIMS, its work and our activities
09:45 – Ken Hickling: The challenges of painting large yachts. What surveyors need to know
10:45 – Break for refreshments
11:00 – Dr Mike Lewus (presenting via Zoom): Understanding corrosion basics and the challenges for surveyors
13:00 – Lunch
14:15 – A review of safety products by Alper Günoral, including firefighting products, life rafts, life buoys, life jackets, harnesses, life lines and Flag State/Port State rules.
14:45 – Session speaker/topic to be confirmed
15:30 – Mike Schwarz: Lithium-ion batteries. What we know so far
17:00 – Close
The cost for the day, including lunch and refreshments, is £110 (approximately 7,200 Turkish Lira), slightly discounted for online only delegates. So, if you can’t get to Bodrum in person for this event, you can join as an online delegate via Zoom. There is no maximum number who can attend.
