SUMMARY:Marine Surveying International Fest 2018
DESCRIPTION:The profession of marine surveying is set to be recognised with
its own special day courtesy of the International Institute of Marine Sur
veying (IIMS) on 6 and 7 November in a crazy but innovative way!\n\nMost p
rofessions and activities increasingly recognise their own special interna
tional days. Three such examples are World Radio Day\, World Puppetry Day
and International Firefighters’ Day. And of course\, a little closer to
home\, there is World Maritime Day too.\n\nIIMS thought it was overdue tha
t marine surveyors have their own special day – a day that celebrates an
d recognises the importance of their work and profession and promoting the
vital role they perform to the wider marine world. So\, IIMS has decided
to create the Marine Surveying International Fest 2018\, a 24 hour marine
surveying jamboree. The date for this innovative and eye-catching event\,
which is brought to you in partnership with Constellation Marine Services
and Nautical Institute\, is Tuesday 6th into Wednesday 7th November. No ma
tter what time zone you are in around the world\, or area of surveying you
work in\, we hope to offer something of interest to you. The day will equ
ally appeal to those who work with surveyors\, or touch the profession in
some way.\n\nHow it works\nMarine Surveying International Fest 2018 is an
online only event and will be anchored and hosted from the IIMS head offic
e in the UK. It is a rolling 24 hour non-stop marathon starting at 11.00 h
rs (London UK time) on Tuesday 6th November and running non-stop until 11.
00 hrs (London UK time) on Wednesday 7th November. The Fest will be opened
by Mike Schwarz\, IIMS CEO\, in discussion with Capt John Lloyd\, Nautica
l Institute CEO.\n\nEach hour on the hour\, a new presentation will be del
ivered live (with one exception) by a knowledgeable presenter somewhere in
the world on a surveying related or relevant business topic. There is a b
alance between commercial ship and yacht and small craft content. For one
fee\, you can join the Fest taking advantage of as many of the 24 presenta
tions over the 24 hours as you wish. And if you miss any presentations bec
ause the time does not work for you in your location\, your fee gives acce
ss to the entire content after the Fest\, which will be videoed so you can
catch up.\n\nIf you cannot make the date\, but would still like to have a
ccess to the video content\, which will not be made available publicly aft
er the event for six months\, then the fee covers that option too. This i
s also relevant if you have an unstable or poor quality internet connectio
n and cannot join live.\n\nHere’s the schedule so far - watch for update
