The IIMS is hosting a face-to-face certifying authority training day on 19 May 2022 at the RNLI’s headquarters in Poole for its own (and other CA) coding examiners with an opportunity to join the afternoon session on life-saving equipment in an online capacity for those delegates who are further afield. Members and non-members are welcome to attend. Due to its nature, the event is also likely to appeal to other marine surveyors who are not involved in MCA coding.

He will discuss man overboard equipment, lifejackets and recovery technologies.
10:45 Leave for Poole Quay Boat Haven on foot (10 to 15 minutes walk)
11.00 Paul Glatzel, RYA trainer and RNLI crew member.
A RIB will be brought around for practical demonstration purposes. Paul will also talk about the different man overboard techniques used on different boats.
12.45 Lunch at RNLI headquarters
14.00 Steve Bockett from Ocean Safety will discuss three principal topics:
– Lifejackets and their required maintenance;
– Integration of MOB beacons;
– Liferaft identification and certification.
